Family History Month

About

In 2001, Congress designated October as Family History Month with S.Res.160 to encourage family history research and honor cultural heritage. But Family History Month is not just for genealogists! There are also a number of heritage observances in the month of October, including: Polish American Heritage Month, National Hispanic Heritage Month, Filipino American History Month, Italian American Heritage and Culture Month, German-American Day, Leif Erikson Day (celebrating Nordic heritage), and Indigenous Peoples' Day. Family History Month is a great time to celebrate everyone's cultural diversity and explore your own family history. Celebrate Family History Month this October!
