If you do not keep your applications up to date, web content may not work as intended or may not work at all. If websites like Blackboard do not seem to work, consider updating your Chrome browser.

Check out this Google support document to learn more about updating Chrome: Link

  1. Install Google Chrome
  2. Click here to open your default apps (Windows only)
  3. Click the application found under "Web Browser" (windows devices default to Edge)
  4. Click Google Chrome

Now your computer should default to Chrome.

We all accidentally close browser tabs, try this to open the last tab that you closed:

  • Keyboard shortcut: press [ctrl]+[shift]+[T] at the same time.

Did you know that there are many ways to refine a google search? Google does it's best with what we give it, but there are symbols and formatting that we can use to help Google do better.

  • Using quotation marks " "
    • When you use quotation marks around keywords, google treats those words as EXACT match keywords. Only content with those exact words, spelt that exact way, will be shown. This is especially useful when you want to search for a phrase and not a bunch of individual words.
    • Example: "Selling an Iphone" returns different results than Selling an Iphone.

  • Using the minus symbol -
    • When you type a minus symbol, the keywords that follow it will be treated as filters. Content that have those keywords will not show up in a search result.
    • Example: I want to search for a Microsoft Word Tutorial, but I keep getting YouTube results. I can just add -YouTube to the search to remove any website with the word YouTube on it.

  • Using Advanced Search
    • if you google Advanced Search Google will provide you with the link to the advanced google search function. This will allow you to search with lots of different options for filters.
